I decided I'll wait for a firmware patch to fix my macbook since it's pretty quite and livable. I'm curious as to who else in here with a moobook is waiting for the patch.

I have 2 day's left before i can't return mine to the store that i bought it..Mine moo's but is otherwise perfect so i'm reluctant to return it. Did the firmware update for the macbook pro fix the mooing issue? i thought it just fixed the whining issue. I'll be pissed if i don't return it and they don't release something to fix the problem

If you get a "by the book" apple genius, he won't exchange it. If that happens, just keep arguing up the food chain.

yes, I'm waiting... I think. I have the moo, and I'm confident that apple will fix it, just like they did for the pro models. But I also have the whine, and I'm trying to decide whether I can/want to live with that because I'm not nearly as confident that apple will address that.

Am I correct in drawing the conclusion, from some of the responses in this post, that the heating and whining problems with MBPs have been fixed? I still plan on waiting for Merom to buy mine, but that would certainly be good news, in case I end up breaking down and buying before then...

The whine and heat problems haven't been officially fixed by Apple. People have made workarounds, to get rid of the whine, but those result in more heat, and shorter battery life. My logic board is being replaced right now to deal with those issues.

I'm waiting to install the intel patch until the one comes out that fixes whatever that one does to your Macbook.

Are there any people here who only experienced problems after installing it?

I have an occasional mooing session, but not too often, heat is quite normal (hot, though)
