I got the Magic Keyboard today. I’m trying to see how long I can go without using the touch screen. Darn it, lost already! Actually I’m trying to do my best to learn all the trackpad and control/option/cmd/space bar actions As fast as I can.

I got mine yesterday and really do like the trackpad options and gestures. This is making the iPad Pro feel a lot more like a notebook, particularly since the keyboard also is really nice. At the same time it feels appropriate for the iPad and not just a mimic of the Mac.

Right now I’m having trouble finding out a keyboard way to close an app. In the all apps. view. Sometimes my trackpad swipe works sometimes it doesn’t. I’m sure it is me.

I keep finding myself reaching to the screen to do things that are easily done on the trackpad itself. It’s really funny trying to adapt the workflow.

I know! When I had a MacBook from work I would reach out and touch the screen, well Duh on me ;)

There isn’t a way to close an app with the keyboard, unfortunately. A lot of that is because iOS works differently than MacOS. Some people do it, but most don’t close apps all the time.

The only way to close an app with the keyboard is to use Control + Tab to cycle through the apps...then once you get to the app that you want to close, use Control+Q and that will close that app.

I keep forgetting about the trackpad because I’ve gotten so used to touching the screen with the Apple Smart folio Keyboard for the past couple of years. Old habits die hard.

It doesn’t close the app it just removes the app from the quick switcher. The app is still there running just FYI

I don't have one, but I'm always reaching to touch the screen on all my other devices.
Doesn't help that both are phone and nintendo are touch enabled.

Got my MK today and I keep finding myself reaching for the screen to tap at something, only to realize halfway that I can use the trackpad. Gonna take some getting used to, but I love it so much. So glad Apple made this.

its crazy how much more production you can be.... just sitting on the couch I was doing work and didnt have to reach up and touch the screen to move around etc. made it way more productive.

I’ve had the no touch the screen contest for the last 5 years since then iPad Pro initially launched. Have not touched the screen since. Everything Apple Pencil. Now with wit mouse/trackpad combo.

I think that this is a great challenge, I have also added the ‘don’t use the Macbook Pro’ challenge as well.

I’m starting a “Eating Solid Foods from Drinking Glasses Challenge” for anyone looking for more ways to subvert design intentions.
