Been looking forward to ML and installing it on my mac I bought the day after WWDC. Unfortunately Apple decided to treat free upgrade customer as second class and have been waiting almost 30 hours and have got no response whatsoever.

I kind of wish I waited for ML to come preinstalled now and will make sure I do so come 10.9 etc, has this fiasco changed any of your minds?

Whatever happened to patience? It's hardly a fiasco is it? What aspect of ML do you desperately need to have today?

I will probably have to wait because something is obviously wrong with ML and Mac Pro 2008 and USB support.
I cant even install it and wait for updates. It is 100% software issue.

I agree with you second class citizen is the best way to put it, Called Apple and told them I should have been given priority since I just dropped $1300 on a 13 inch Air a few weeks ago. Talked to 6 "supervisors" and supposedly got to the top of customer service reps, and it genuinely seems like their hands are tied. I bought it and when I get my code I will insist on a refund or at the very least a $20 credit for the App store. If not hell will be raised.

I don't know about you but when I pay for something I expect to receive it, especially when you pay Apple's prices.

From Apple's own Terms and Conditions:

Upon receipt of your completed order form and proof of purchase, a content code for OS X Mountain Lion, redeemable on the Mac App Store, will be emailed within twenty-four (24) hours of order qualification.

I set aside some time to do a clean install, spent hours preparing files and making backups and now I'm just sitting here waiting for a bit of text to be emailed to me. Frustrating.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm on Mountain Lion now and its pretty damn sweet.

So should I call Apple and tell them I should be given more priority than you, since I just dropped $2200 on a 13 inch Air last Tuesday?

And the gazillions of people that bought the new retina MacBook Pro get even more priority than you or I, because their machines cost even more?

Is that really how you suggested to Apple that the system should work?

I'm almost tempted to make the upgrade to Mountain Lion this weekend on my early 2009 MacBook with 6 GB of RAM and 10.7 Lion already installed. Should I do so, or wait another week?
(I do hope Apple will also come out with a new version of iLife for the Macs pretty soon! I'd like to see them add all of iDVD's features to iMovie, but that's for another topic. :p)

You paid for Lion though, no? Unless you're saying they factor 2 OS's into their laptop pricings.

That's not the point.

1. The application was poorly made and explained (no Macbook Air option initially for example).

2. There is no confirmation upon completing it. That plus long waits is a bad combo. People start thinking they put in the wrong email or something else went wrong and they resubmit multiple times making the congestion worse.

3. I think it's a fair assumption that a large portion of the people who bought a Mac in the last month were anticipating the new OS. It's pretty insulting to present the people most excited about the release with a half-assed effort and multi-day delays.

It wouldn't be so infuriating if they at least said something to indicate that they give a ****.
