I bought and love the dock but used some 2sided tape to stop it from moving when I remove the iPad. Has anyone came up with interesting docks?

I tried mine one time and tossed it. If you are not careful it will scratch your device and I bih on landscaper mode. I also hate taking off my incase just to charge.

I have really found that my battery lasts so long that one charge while I am sleeping is all I will ever need. Even the 3G sips power.

I have been wondering how others remove their device from the dock, it's so awkward. Double sided tape is a great idea.

I also agree with the second post about the need for a landscape docking option

Use that sticky foam tape I used gorilla glue for The family dock.

I picked up the dock on day one with my iPad and the Apple case. I never take my iPad out of it's case the so I never used the dock. I returned the dock Friday and am waiting for the camera kit which for me is a much better use of thirty bucks.

We haven't used it yet - the kid never takes hers out of the Apple case.

I just ordered the Speck CandyShell case - and it has a flap for dock use. I imagine i will be using it more than her at a variety of events i won't be using my laptop at now.

I thought about returning it, but i know I will regret that after my first field use, so meanwhile - it sits in the bag!

Comments like this make me lean toward the BT keyboard (even though the docked one has the special keys)

I bought 2 docks (one for me and one for my wife). I will be returning them on Monday. I hate the fact I have to take my ipad out of my case to the dock. And while I thought I could accept having my ipad in portrait mode, I found that after a while it really bothered me.

It was one of those purchases that I made when I was waiting for the 3g to be released, but now that I have had a chance to use I think it's a waste of money. Just my opinion.

It's personal preference... I use them to have the iPad on display, use certain apps, and to have the picture frame running. But it is a pain to take the case on and off all the time. I can't believe (1) you can't use the cases with the dock without picky alterations and (2) can't dock it in landscape mode.

More for 2nd generation. :D

The Apple case gets loose enough to take on and off easily after a week, but you really shouldn't have to.

I switched from the dock to the BT wireless keyboard. It's also lighter and thinner if you want to carry it in your backpack or briefcase with the iPad.

I agree with both issues you're raising. I am using the dock right now, as I'm still waiting for the case to arrive, but I can easily see how having to take the iPad from its case in order to dock it is going to become unpopular very quickly.

I considered getting the dock, but instead I am using a table top picture holder. It actually works beautifully with the charging cable plugged in, and it can be used in landscape or portrait modes.

I use the dock with no issues. I prefer it because it standing rather than lying down, and its easier to just put it in than to have this stray cable. Plus is like just picking it up and going, plus my iPhone fits in it too, and it looks better than the iPhone dock IMHO.
