Who is using the keyboard dock?

Does it bug you that you can't dock the iPad in landscape?

I bought one but I have not opened it yet. I really find the on-screen keyboard to be just fine so I may return it.

If I open it and try it will they charge me a restocking fee if I return it? I ordered it at apple.com. Can I return it to an apple store?

I was thinking of getting one, but decided to just go with a apple Bluetooth keyboard, which is the same price. Now I can find a cheap stand that can display the iPad in portrait or landscape mode. Also depending on the stand I won't have to take the iPad out of it's case.

Hmmm...maybe I should just swap my dock-keyboard for a bluetooth keyboard. Thanks for the reply.

I have been testing both keyboards. The Dock works well with special keys for the iPad. It has a pass through connector so you can still have it plugged into a power source or plug in one of those special devices like the memory card reader.

Now the bad news. It only lets you use the iPad in Portrait mode. It weighs 1.5lbs. It's too thick to put in a thin briefcase or messenger bag.

The BT wireless keyboard is thinner and lighter (11oz) -- fits the side pocket of my messenger bag. It has no special keys for the iPad but you don't really need them. It does have the useful arrow keys for moving around in a document. Also has a tab key. None of those keys are on the virtual keyboard. I like having all the characters visible rather than having 3 layers of keys. And just like the dock keyboard, it is nice to be able to use Command+A, X, C, V to select/cut/copy/paste text.

You can get a refurb BT keyboard directly from Apple's online outlet store for $59. Get a nice business card holder from any office supplies store for couple of bucks.
