do you enjoy watching on your imac ? better then MBP (if you have one) ?

I download TV shows and Movies in 720p/1080p regularly and watch at my friends house sometimes who has the 27'' and it's absolutely amazing. Why watch TV when you can download what you want and see it on such an amazing screen.

Also watch movies/anime. iMac is perfect for anime and movies like toy story.
Though it isn't so good for dark live action movies.

Got a 27" i7. all I do on it is watch anime and movies
The Bleach series finished yesterday so less anime now :(
Animations Look Amazing ! Anything just 720p looks crisp.
But I agree with dark levels on movies there not as good as a decent plasma, which is expected.

watch these if you didn't watched them : monster, code geass,DBZ,deathnote and fullmetal.

what do you mean by 'Anything just 720p looks crisp' ?

720p looks bad on the 27'' imac ? why ?

I think he meant anything 720p and up looks crisp (sharp, clear, etc...)

The whole reason I want an iMac is to watch anime on it. I have 2TB full of it, and with the new Thunderbolt announced thatd be rather useful! Took me 16 hours to transfer from one external HDD to another over USB2.

The only thing I worry about is that CCCP doesnt work on OSX. I hate VLC and need to look for alternative.

I hear Mplayer OSX is decent for subs though ..... just waiting on the new iMacs though,

You might try installing Perian and using Quicktime.

Heres my MAL http://myanimelist.net/profile/Zelnaga

Kaiji
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Black Lagoon
Eureka Seven
Baccano
Rebuild of Neon Genesis Evangelion

Just to name a few.

Anyways back on topic.

Yes Ive considered using Perian.

Coming from a Windows background. VLC was a world of hurt a few years back. The layout and functions were all over the place and failed to play RealPlayer files or the old .OOG files, and some videos failed to display their subs correctly. I dont know what its like now.

CCCPs MPC Cinema on the other hand; just works for me. So much so id love it on my mac and would consider getting VM fusion or Parallel just to run it (I aint just buying an iMac for anime, its mainly for work aswell).

I use my 27" for work, movies and a TV. The ElGato Hybrid is the best thing ever! I have plenty of room to work, have the TV open and a website in the corner. The ElGato pulls in HD channels from my coaxial cable connection straight form the wall or over the air with an antenna. The OTA reception is pretty good here in San Diego but the coaxial is superb. Recording shows is easy too. The one thing that bugs me is the uneven brightness from corner to corner. This is my second machine and the same issue/characteristic. It's very noticeable with latter boxed movies or dark scenes.

MPlayer OS X is good, even in win 7 I use mplayer (called SMPlayer for windows).
