I've just discovered that Splashtop 2 combined with Windows 8 supports multi touch gestures and full Win 8 swipe gestures. :)

Been testing it on my nexus 7 and it works flawlessly. Very minor latency on my wireless n network but this has been a very cheap way to try out the windows 8 touch experience and I must admit it isn't bad at all.

Before starting I set splashtop to display the screen resolution at 1366*768 so metro applications would work and it has been fine from there.

Give it a go if you wanted to see what windows 8 was like on touch and didn't wan to fork out for a surface. As you're connected to an x86 PC, its more akin to surface pro too. :D

Multitouch on Splashtop doesn't work on my iPad 2 sadly. Thinks my finger is a mouse cursor. :(

Splashtop is AMAZING, I used it all the time before I got my windows tablet. Works nicely on my ipad and on my N7, it's a bit small to touch on the N7 but it's workable.

I have spent a bit of cash on their products. Bought the original phone version on Android, the HD version for tablets when I had my Xoom and the THD gaming version when I got my Transformer prime (spent hours playing Civilization V via Splashtop on my tablets).

When Splashtop 2 came out and went to a yearly subscription basis for remote access (on Android) they did an offer of a free year's subscription for Splashtop 2 if you contacted them. In the end they gave me a lifetime subscription once I contacted them. :D

Great app, dev and support team IMO. Had real positive experiences with them.

"Who needs to have one computer when you can have your tablet simulate Windows 8 if you have another Windows 8 computer already on!"

Also, it's only like a "surface pro" in the way that it runs x86. The Surface Pro is... basically an ultrabook, it's on a whole different level. >_>

Splashtop is VERY cool, but it doesn't come close to having a real windows tablet. I do use it sometimes to pull up windows on my Note 2 and freak out co workers.
