I would be interested to know who still uses the last supported Nvidia card the GTX-680 in there mac pro?

One thing for sure they seem to be reliable GFX cards at nearly 10 years old.

Lot's of people that don't need VideoToolbox hardware assistance for video decompression/compression/color grading still use it. I'm using two right now on my Mac Pros.

Works fine, except for the Finder window issues, easy to get pre-boot configuration support, have METAL support and it's a GPU still officially supported by Apple up to BigSur.

I use all kinds of Kepler GPUs for my low end builds. Affordable and low wattage, some flashable with an uga rom.

Compared to the AMD R9 / HD79xx GPUs more reliable.

I have 3 GTX-680's 2 Evga 2G versions and 1 Evga 4G version all flashed with Mac rom's and are proven to be very reliable.

Apart from editing my drone footage in hitfilm express they have quite an easy life. still a sort after card for the Mac pro. one thing i have noticed since fitting a 590+ nitro and Vega 64 nitro plus is the way they dump air into the case, as the GTX-680's pump it out the back.

Good to see the GTX-680 still a viable card even today. Should have bought some more when they were real cheap ?

The problem is that the days of Kepler GPUs are numbered, we will only have up to September 2023 when BigSur support ends. NVIDIA itself removed support last year from the current Windows drivers.

To continue to use Kepler GPUs with Monterey you need root patching to install the Big Sur drivers and you'll need to re-do it every time Apple releases a software update. It's a big no-no for me and I'm already looking for "cheap" RX 460/470/480/560/570/580 to replace the Kepler GPUs that I have. Cheapest way right now to get one are used corporate PCs that have AMD Polaris GPUs from factory.

its a shame really as the cards work well, but for me i still use mojave as it does all i need for now. may move up an OSX version when i start to have troubles but updates and NV ram resets kinda puts me off updating at the moment.
