Who do you think will win the battle when it comes to unlocking and jailbreaking 2.0 firmware?

This applies to BOTH 2G version and 3G version :)

the dev team has already done it

zibri will no doubt steal their method again and continue to make lives more difficult for innocent iphone users while claiming it's HIS jailbreak.

Well yeah, but it hasnt been released yet so that doesnt count :)

I myself believe in DevTeam and is for the moment a constant reloader of their blog

Go Dev Team!

read through the comments on the last blog,
you will see Zibri talking about waiting to "steal" ,borrow the devteam work.
So zibri never did anything, just "borrow" the devteam work!

so the answer is pretty simple...

It's remarkable that people put up with him/her/them stealing the hard work of the dev team like that if it's genuinely what he/she/they are doing!

Zibri just makes nofty front-ends to the Dev Team's work; seeing that video they've put out of Pwnage 2.0, I'll say that Zibri has nothing left to do now :D

Go Dev Team!

wow

I agree the Dev team will most likely be first, and will have a better solution.

But not 4 months ago when I looked on this forum which method was best to unlock my iphone, most people recommended ZiPhone. All my searches back then seemed to point at ZiPhone as the best option. And now many people are just bashing the guy as a thief. I really am not sure if he is or not, but it's just nasty how generally most people who glorified him on this forum have flipped to say he's an idiot, thief, etc.

I for one acknowledge that 4 months ago I unlocked my iPhone and all my family's iPhones in the simplest way thanks to his method.

It's just funny how people forget these things ;)

That zibri on the blog is obviously fake, he would never admit that he stole devteams work last time.

Missing option: Geohot has announced he will release a modified version of the Dev-Teams work on Tuesday if Pwnage 2.0 doesn't come out before.

George is a moron -- I'd rather be patient, and be sure that the jailbreak won't fry my third iPhone (already fried one with an HK GoPlay and another with ZiPhone). I trust the DevTeam to put together a safe jailbreak and release it once they've thoroughly tested it.

He's just trying to drum up press for himself, since the hardware hack was a financial dead-end.

We'll see come Tuesday. I think the dev team is closer to being finished then they're letting on and that we'll have it by Tuesday in order to deter George.

This is hilarious. All these guys are acting like children. The name calling. The teasing. It's sad really. War of the nerds

On the positive side it seems to keep them going. I must admit that I'm really looking forward to 2.0 on my "old" iPhone, but I have problems getting emotional about all the ideological aspects of this.

In the end we have some skilled people with an über-ego. If the dev team was only concerned about stability they could have avoided all pressure by not announcing it on their blog. They are not driven by any deadlines and they don't take money, so they could have avoided the current situation very easily. Now everyone is checking their blog every 2 minutes and people talk about those involved like they are really close to them, even though they only know a nick and read the story on someone's blog.
I'd say what a waste of time if it wasn't for the fact that I just wasted my time on a mild rant about it :D

I completely agree, how many posts have we seen of people saying "hey guys, dev team will soon be done with the Pwnage 2.0!!! just be patient"

it does get a bit annoying

so we are asking who will do it first: the actual development team, or a lowlife stealing hack?

im gonna go with the dev team

Wow, it seems like everyone can unlock an iPhone... I'm going to come out with my own jailbreak/unlock method...iPhils.

that was before most ppl where aware of how he stole it from the dev team, and before his sloppy and dangerous (for your device) work was exposed

No, that's not the point at all. Even if someone releases their work with a shiny UI priorly, it's kudos to the dev team. I'm simply saying there is no reason to get passionate about it and I'm with Jericho when it comes to comments like: "Please disregard the foolish ones with no patience" followed by a "you are the best, dev team". I'd appreciate a more neutral and technical discussion in general.

If it goes on like this Dev Team and ZiPhone can start a religion ;)

The problem with that is that a religion cannot present "clear and present danger" to its followers...

I think if users brick their new 3G devices that a1 lot would hang themselves... so, by definition they cannot start a religion. LoL :D

We could start a thread about religions not following this path ;)

That's why I will wait for a while for the dust to settle. Whoever bought a 3g iPhone the day it came out made some kind of bet - it's not like they have a natural right to jb it. And if they pay for it by creating their personal iBrick it's fine to me :D

so is the dev team gonna Realase there Pwnage program today i thought they said they plan to release it over the weekend?

They said that it wasn't going to be released this weekend. I suspect we'll see it by Tuesday before Yiphone is supposed to come out.
