So I'm just posting something on ebay, then boom, its off. I would push the on button, MBP made the little noise and light turned on... then back off. Tried 5 more times, and same thing, wouldn't turn on. Came back 3 hours later and turned back on, everything working fine. Should I be worried? applecare worthy?

How long did you have it on when it shut off? Mine did that once and now I restart at least once a day and I haven't ran into the same problem since.

I would be worried. However apple won't do anything unless the problem is recurring, so try to bring it back.

I had it on for a few hours... I had backuped my HD, and synced my iPod the same session.... nothing really out of the ordinary.

How hot is your battery?

I had problems with random shut downs that were due to the battery overheating, distorting and breaking contact.

The battery was visibly bulging at the level check button and got too hot to touch!

Battery replaced under Applecare and I make dam sure that I run the fans fast enough to keep it cool from now on.

Okay, it just happened again! I should of mentioned this before... but I previously had a bad battery that did exactly that, started to visibly bulge... anyways they replaced my battery and fixed something else wrong with it ( fixed the lcd inverter issue which induced whining sounds at different brightness levels). Long story short, the random shut offs, followed by unsuccessful start ups immediately after the shut off started when I got the MBP back from repair and battery replacement.
Thinking it might be the battery, I took out the battery right after it shut down and wouldnt turn back on. Still didn't turn back on. So, I came back to my computer 4 hours later and the damn thing booted back up. Sounds like a heat issue, maybe this battery is bad and is about to start bulging... ****ing apple. Should I mail this in or go to the genius bar again(getting sick of that apple store)?

For anyone that has been reading...
Went to the Genius Bar, wasted an hour, and they could not re-create the problem.. all the did was reset the power something or another, and gave it back to me.. This computer is really getting on my nerves.

It happened to me a couple times, but like your experience in the Applecentre I couldn't reproduce it. I guess the battery kicked loose while in transit or something, and the memory chips died, hence the whole thing powered off.
