Whoosh sound.

I just upgraded to Lion about 48 hours ago with a clean install and there's one thing just bugging the h*ll out of me. There's a sound that plays every 3 minutes or so that sounds like a 'whoosh'. I CANNOT figure out what App is causing it or if it's just a system sound. Help !!!!1111

Could you have an outbound mail stuck in the outbox and it's try to resend? "whoosh" sounds like the mail sent sound.

Mine is silent.. It's very boring.

Try to quit from Mail completely (right click on Mail dock icon and Quit). And check if the sound plays after then randomly or not.

yep...wooosh sounds like mail!

That sound comes from the chat application

When a buddy goes online-offline it makes that noise, i´ve banged my head several times in the past until i realized where it came from

messages > preferences > alerts TAB:
Buddy becomes available
Buddy becomes unavailable

change sound or disable those alarms and that´s it, hope it helps

Edit, i was thinking, it´s a "whooooosh" sound like email? really?, with the mail app closed?!,, or its more like a breathing sound, short/quick "whoosh" in that case its the chat sounds i told you before
