I am probably around christmas. Getting it custom made though 2TB hard drive and some other things. I can't wait, and maybe hook it up to my macbook. Anyone else? I'm going to the apple store this week to see it in person.
I'm looking at picking up the 27" iMac baseline and upgrade the GPU (27" 3.06Ghz C2D 1TB 4GB ATI 4850 512MB)
I'm looking to get a stationary system to do some side rendering and processing; I dont need the Quad...it'd be GREAT but I'm not looking to settle with a desktop anymore...I had the past few years with G5's & Mac Pros (loved em, but got hooked on the portables).
It'd make a nice display too with the MBP. the LEDs look amazing compared to the ancient Cinemas.
But I'm holding off until things become more clear about the input situation (if it can have dual displays when hooking up a notebook; similar to the set up now) and how it all works.
I bought the baseline 27" iMac the day after it came out and all I can say is WOW. =] This thing does work! Display IS amazing, runs Cod4 on all maxed settings smooth as butter. Buy it ! =P
I was going to get 27" until I found out its just to dang big, so I am downgrading to 21.5, the one for $1499 and going to put 8GB ram in it a little later on down the road.
Hopefully, in early January I will have the cash and get the 27' iMac i7. I figure if I'm buying a new one, I might as well buy what will probably only be the low end by early 2011, but still be really really good 4+ years from now.

Got the 27" a few days ago. Base model, no upgrades, edu discount. LOVE it. Faster than lightning. Glad I spent the extra $500 over the 21.5" or the $340 over the "old" 24" refurb.
I forgot about the education discount! That's cool. I might custom make it online or just drive to Delaware(only 30 miles away) and get it tax free there. Not too sure yet.
