The extra memory bandwidth make a lot of difference when you are doing LLM models on device so it is not only benchmark score difference and it really depends on your use case.

comparing the price with an old M3 going on sale...with just released product that probably will have some discounts too after couple of weeks/months...
M4 Max definitaly, there is no question about it because if you dont need the gpu and price is sensitive for you, go with the M4 pro. Who is going with the Max/Ultra goes for money maker not for money savings and M4 Pro is for people who need a good/great balance in price performance battery life
