Who's with me waiting for Apple to release a small form factor MBP or a small form factor anything with a MATTE screen!!!!!

I can afford to wait, but it still freaking sucks that Apple is yet to release our dream computer.

I'm partially with you. I would much rather have a smaller-form MBP, even if it's the same size as the current MB (versus the size of the 12" PB). Also, I really like the glossy display, so a choice would still be nice. I do miss the light-weight of my 12" PB versus the slightly heavier MBP.

/me me!

But on the other hand 15.4" is a very nice size, maybe an inch smaller would be nice (while still retaining a wide screen configuration), oh and of course Ole LED based screens would be nice... I don't want new LEDs in the screen, but O LED!

I would probably eventually buy a 12" MBP if Apple released one. But only if it had a matte screen, I despise glossy screens. I could survive doing photoshop on a 12" screen (widescreen preferably) if it meant being four and a half pounds total. But I still like the big screen on my 15" MBP, so I don't know. I'd probably do the Mac Mini modded into a Cube case before I buy a 12" MBP.

is a state of mind.
I just got a new Mac Pro...my first truly powerful desktop machine. I've used laptops as a primary computing machine for nearly 10 years (all Macs!!!!). Now that I have a really nice desktop machine, I want a 10" widescreen MacBook Pro. Not sure they'll ever make one, but it would be perfect for me. Small and compact for on the go and I'd still have the desktop power I need for my work.

My friend and I were in an Apple Store earlier tonight discussing this. I like the small form factor of the MB, but the MBP aluminum casing is so much sleeker.

I really loved by 12 inch powerbook form factor, but it really wasn't enough for my eyes. I think the 13 inch macbook is perfect and I love the screen. Glossy really does pop out to my eyes.

I don't like the small screen, there is only so much you can fit on a 12 inch screen without losing work space.

The only people waiting for a small MBP are the same people who waited for the PowerBook G5! I think they're called idiots IIRC.

/me runs!

I almost bought a 12" iBook two years ago, but my dad convinced me to save a little more for an iMac. When I look back on it, I can't possibly imagine using FCE on a 12" 4:3 display. Sure, a 12" screen may be fine for people like my sister, (PowerBook) but I can't imagine using FCE on anything other than a widescreen. I think the new 13" widescreen MacBook is the sweet spot in size. 15.4" is a great size, and I prefer the aluminum on the MBP over the polycarbonate plastic on the MacBook, but 15.4" can seem a tad too big.

If they had a 13" widescreen MBP, I'd probably buy it, but the 15" is not only a tad too big but a tad too expensive as well. Plus, the MacBook and MacBookPro are closer in terms of features than the iBook and PowerBook two years ago when my sister, my brother, and I were buying new macs. Portability wasn't a major thing for me two years ago, so I bought an iMac. But my brother and sister need portability, especially my sister, and the iBook's crappy 1.2 GHz and 1.33 GHz with 256 MB RAM couldn't stack up to the PowerBook's 1.5 GHz and 1.67 GHz with 512 MB RAM (and much bigger hard disks.) Had the MacBook and MacBookPro been out when they were looking, we probably would've gotten them a MacBook, but their PowerBooks have suited them well.

Give me the plastic of the MB, the power of the MBP, and a size similar to the 12" G4 and we have a deal. My main gripe with the 12" G4 was it's lack of durability. The iBook handled life a lot better than the Al of the Powerbook, so I want a durable, ultra-portable. If we have to cut one of those features, a Tangerine color must be added. :)

15" is small enough. They need to get their screen problem squared away. Also I think they should go glossy all the time :) looks better.

Oh no, please no.

I hate glossy, I am sure many bought MBPs because that is the only model where you are not fixed with glossy too.

Would appreciate it if Apple slip one of those fine Samsung LED backlit panels in during the next revision though, I will upgrade solely on account of that (I have a 9C60 screen).

I'm waiting a while anyway, so yeah I'd love to see what they do with a smaller MBP. I think they will come out with one too. I think it would be a mistake for them not to.
