iPad mini 4 on the top. iPad mini 6 on the bottom. I am way too old to ever get used to the idea of these two keys being switched. Is there any way to fix this?

The new layout is probably better, but I'd been typing on the old one for several years. I'm used to it. So now, when I want to type a bunch of numbers, I end up with the Thai keyboard and then have to switch to emojis and then back to English. I'm an old dog and new tricks aren't that easy to learn.

It is absolutely jarring. No question. It’s reversed on the iPhone, which most of us use. I think it’s a terrible decision by Apple to have an iPad with one keyboard setup and an iPhone with another.

That's how Apple rick-rolls its users. It would likely get reverted in the next update, but as another member said, it now resembles hardware keys. So, you might want to prepare yourself for a little muscle-memory retraining.

I like the new one better. makes numbers more easily accessible on the edge. I'm sure you'll get used to it in no time

Yeah, I still hit the globe when I want to hit the number key. I would also like to have the option of changing the keyboard to the older style (ie Mini 4). If anyone knows how to do this, would be great to know~

I’m happy with it on my Mini 6. It’s the same as the layout on my iPP Magic Keyboard.

I don’t have the Mini 6, but I prefer that layout since it’s easier to get to the emojis!

I’m really astonished how this cash flow cow named Apple had augmented the quality’s lack in every single aspect of itself except for financial one.
The best Apple product is AAPL stock, until it works.

That’s nothing new, though. The builtin apps on iPhone and iPad have the same buttons in different places. Once you’ve build up muscle memory on one device you constantly get annoyed on the other. It’s been bugging me for many years.

I also wish the iPhone power button was still on the top like on the iPad.
