It crashes 5-10 seconds after loading. I did a full restore on my phone and synced everything from scratch, no backups, and it seemed to work fine for one day. Then today the same thing, it'll load and immediately crash. Reinstalling and rebooting the phone has no effect on getting it to work. Anyone know what I can do ? This was one of my favorite apps that I used daily :(

24hr -> 12hr Time bug

This is possibly caused by a combination Apple/WhosHere bug.

In 2.1 if you switch your clock to 24hr time and back to 12hr time, a library that Apple wrote nolonger functions. WhosHere does not properly handle this (as this is not something you expect to stop working).

Here's what you can do.
1. Set your iPhone/touch to 24hr time. WhosHere should start working again.
2. or Perform a full restore but do not rebuild from a backup. Instead resynch all your content without the backup. If you restore from backup it seems to put you back into the same state.

Now that we've identified this bug we've fixed it but we already have an update pending and so it will be in the update after that where we can work around this issue.

Thanks Bryant :) I like this app. Wish I had known that sooner though!
It used to crash for a while immediately after booting it for me too. The only way I found to fix it (at the time) was to delete the app and reinstall. But then of course I lost all my chat data.. (If I do that, and use the same name, is my ID technically still the same?)

Which brings me neatly to another crashing bug. I noticed when someone sent me a message on there, and I already had a lot of messages from that person, it would lock up the entire phone completely quite regularly at the point I went to view that persons message. Most annoying! But periodically clearing the chat definitely helps stop it doing that.

Update should be available any day now? Looking forward to it :)

Long Chats

Yes there's no question that long chats can lead to crashing and it sounds like you figured out the work around on your own (deleting long chat histories).

I'm actually working this weekend on fixing this and believe I understand the problem. There's already a pending update (sent to Apple last weekend) so you won't see the fix in 0.98 but I'm planning a 0.98a that has the following.

- Builds using the 2.1 Apple toolkit
- Faster loading times
- Reduced memory footprint
- Resolved long chat history crashing
- Work around for the 24hr -> 12hr issue
- a few small functional bits as well

so 0.98a (as have all the letter releases have been) will be about bugs and stability.

whoshere needs A LOT of work. It was a great idea.

It needs work, sure. I don't know about a 'LOT' of work however. Seems a bit unfair? Have you tried todays update?

The work is being put in, and its a free app. So I can't grumble really :)
