Why do Apple & Samsung fans always fight? Are we not good enough to appreciate the rivalry in a mature way? Surely choice is paramount. And it should be respected. Why not discuss our differences as opposed to fighting and hurling abuses?

I hate to say it, but that's the human race for you. If you're in the US just look at Congress. Some people get their kicks out of being destructive or disruptive instead of productive. Maturity and Common Sense are at a premium these days.

We have always been contaminated with the, "mine is better than yours" syndrome handed down from our forefathers. Its human nature to try and prop ones self up in any capacity. Whether it be clothing, cars, electronics, money, women, etc.

Now, I believe simply that Apple makes better products than anyone else out there, I will always buy Apple, I dont believe it makes me better than anyone though. Its all about preference, I have tried others, I dont like them. Simple as that.

A stark example is the ongoing thread regards the pending introduction of the Samsung galaxy 4. People are already fighting and some shooting it down and yet it's not yet even launched. I like Apple too but I am open to see, try and appreciate anything that is good, better or competitive .....whatever word is appropriate.

The fault lies in ourselves, not our stars...

About 3 million years ago, if you joined a tribe you would survive but if you tried to go it alone you would die. We are all descendents of apes who joined the tribe. Our genes REQUIRE us to join various tribes - fans of Sports Team A, members of Political Party B, users of Technology C.

Joining the tribe means recognizing those who are not in the tribe (the Other) and ignoring, shunning, disliking, despising, hating, or destroying them.

All of this will change, however, once you all see the light and join my Religion D.

While your anthropological analysis of tribalism has some merit ( although I think a bit overstated), I would seriously disagree that "Our genes REQUIRE us to join various tribes...".

Behavior, in humans at least, is not "required" by genetic make up. Although there are certainly genetic predispositions for certain behaviors (affectional preference, for example), environmental influences account for at least some of the variance. I would also question your implied definition of what constitutes a tribe. Watching TV, or using a computer, does not make me a member of the "TV tribe" or the "computer tribe"...but rather it makes me part of a demographic group.

The issue here is the difference between a "tribe" and a "group".

I don't think that there is anything wrong with a lively, respectable debate...but I know what you're getting at.

I'm personally an Apple guy and probably always will be...but I definitely appreciate and respect the fact that Android exists and there are companies like Samsung implementing it in a way that drives Apple (and others) to continually innovate and stay on top of their craft. Companies like Samsung push Apple to be their absolute best, and vice versa. As a result consumers have legitimate, viable choices when selecting products...everyone wins in this environment IMO.

But yes, I know what you mean. I wish more people could just come to terms with the fact that BOTH companies make quality products and it is ultimately good to have both companies around. There is nothing wrong with taking sides and defending your side...but it's also a good thing to keep the conversations/debates humble and respectful...there is nothing wrong with ceding points to the other side every now and then out of logic and respect.

They don't always fight. There's always a group on the Internet that engage in sometimes inflamed discussion about gadgets but generally it's respectful. Personally I couldn't care what anyone uses aside from myself and perhaps some people close to me.

While your answer is more accurate, PatrickCocoa's was funnier.
