Been trying to sell my mint condition, unlocked, iPhone 15 Pro 512GB 90% battery on FB Marketplace and CL in a big city and am getting almost no responses. At this point, I would be ok with selling for $650. Note, two years ago I sold a 13 Pro 256GB for $675. Trying to better understand the market. Usually I would get a ton of low ball offers, this time hardly getting any at all.

Is it b/c it's a 512GB and most people don't need that much storage?
Is it the economy?

Supply and demand. You might also try Swappa, I've had good luck there before. But at the end of the day, you might have to lower the price a bit. Also, a lot of people don't need that much storage, so they're not willing to pay a premium for more storage just b/c it's there.

That's odd... I listed my wife's 14PM 512gb on FB market and got so many messages and offers that I couldn't keep up. In the end I sold it for my asking price, as I turned away all the lowballers. I am in the NYC/NJ market though which is huge.

Supply and demand as well as impacting economic changes since the past two years. Unfortunately that is what is causing the lack of interest at the moment.

People aren’t buying as much as before. I was a frequent updated and before 2022 I could comment a good price on iPhones and it sells pretty quickly and a good price. That being said your price is too high imho. Phones depreciate quickly these days. Coupled that economic uncertainty please just don’t want to spend. It took me months to offload stuff I was selling for me jeep we are talking nearly 9 months.

FWIW, in Europe commercial refurbishers are offering over 800 € for that model. Don’t these exist in the US?

Those of us who go for higher storage always get screwed on value, on both the front end and the back end.

I wish they'd put in a MicroSD slot

(yes, I know they never will)

How do you sell a high ticket item like that. Like $5-600 dollars. Did you meet in a public place etc? Wait for the cash app to clear before handing it over?

Meet inside a bank or at a police station

All the cameras scare off bad actors.

If you meet at a bank, you can deposit money right there while they are next to you.

Just the threat of these situations, all on cameras, will ward off bad actors.

Battery life since the iPhone 13 have been too good, no one is upgrading, especially in this economy. You shouldn’t be upgrading too imo. Your 15 Pro is still a great phone.

I had a hard time too selling my 15PM.

I was at 98% battery life too. It took weeks and had to drop my price. Strange.
