Why App Store keeps showing updates?

I have updated 3 programs 3 times and yet the updater keeps saying they need to be updated.

What give?

Do you happen to have a copy of these applications somewhere else on your disk or on an external disk drive? This has been known to cause the issue that you're seeing.

Just rebooted my computer and the updater went away.
