I think apple is in the top of electronic industry and when you buy a high-tech iPhone ,one of its accessories--earphones are not on the same level.I just wanna know why they don't design an upmarket earphones?

When the first time I used apple earphones,I was shocked!Because I thought it was just an ordinary pair of earphones with Apple logo and I never change my mind, that's it.No matter in quality or design,I can only say so-so.And yep,the sound quality really sucks me coz I found that you couldn't use it for anything but make a phone call.

Well... yeah, the sound quality won't win any awards on them. They always have been, historically; from when the iPod was first launched. They're bundled free with iPhones for a reason.

You won't likely find really good quality headphones bundled with any brand of smartphone.

"Between the Hedges"
They are perfectly fine for the vast majority of users
And those that aren't happy with them would likely have their fav brand anyway
(until they remove the headphone jack that is)
:)

HTC 10, not in the US though, bundles a very good set of HiRes earphones, which of course sound better because of the separate DAC's in the HTC 10

So Apple should add a three hundred dollars to each phone to upgrade to the best of earbuds:rolleyes:.

For me Apple should just remove these earphones... As mentioned above they are only useful to make a phone call and nothing about it. All of the in ear phones I used sounded better than them (ok except 10$ ones ).

Everyone now have their own pair of them. It's just like another pair of charger cables and adapter (that's another story - only Apple uses different plug )

The reason why is because Apple is cheap. There's no real reason for them to go better.

Maximize profit.

Sound "quality" of earphones is entirely subjective. To me, the current Apple earphones actually sound quite good. They are a bit "in ear", meaning you need to push them in until you get a seal. Then the response dramatically improves.

Apple has made a set of headphones that will sound pretty good to the average person. Audiofools wouldn't be impressed with any bundled "high end" set, and Apple would be committing financial suicide.

Because most people don't know the difference and Apple knows that. They can get away with providing inferior sound equipment to maximize profits.

It's sad because as a 'Premium' Computer/Phone manufacturer, they should provide each and every one of their customers with the best possible OVERALL experience. That means every part of the product should be superior, EVEN if the customer doesn't/wouldn't know any better.

Apples driving force is not to maximize profit. Those who think they do don't understand the company. Apples mission is to provide a product in a different type of way. The mission is not to say: "how much can I fleece my customers for"?

It could be argued that the headphones aren't a part of the product, and providing a better overall experience would be to remove them from the package altogether. The problem with that reasoning is that then the average consumer wouldn't have a pair of headphones to make calls or listen to music. I have seen so many different iPhone users that just use these headphones. They don't care that there are better options out there, just that they sound decent and came with the device. Apple provides them because they are a slight step above standard, and some manufacturers don't even include headphones anymore. Could Apple provide better headphones? Sure, but why fix something that they aren't hearing many complaints about? Also, they might reveal a slightly better version of their headphones with the new iPhone. If the headphone jack removal rumors are to be believed.

Well it is sold as a phone, so I suspect including EarPods that serve well for phone calls makes at least a little sense.

Can't you just buy whatever additional EarPods/earphones you want to use for whatever. Does Apple have to be responsible for your whole life?

Hype, you pay extra for brand. Check this out that many of them have parts from much cheaper ones. Talking about overpriced product when we have iPhones lol

They are ok for being bundled in.
Quick question, are beats headphones any good? Or just hype.
They used to be mostly hype, but have improved since the early days. They are still overpriced compared to other brands, but if you got them on a good sale they would be worth it.
