Simple, they get a cut from the ones that arent free. The more 3rd party apps that are on itunes, the more money they get. Lets face it, Apple is all about the $$. The first major update to the iphone was the itunes store - a way to give apple more money, faster.

However, I love this idea. Let Apple make their buck and allow us to have the best phones with the biggest variety of software on the market!

Cant wait!

Letting Apple make their buck is just like letting any business survive. I am with you, reasonably priced apps in iTunes and hopefully monitored best they can to protect the end user is key. Besides, after jailbreaking my phone all I can say is that I loaded a bunch of apps that I hardly use. I just wanted multi text (now in 1.1.3) and MMS (still a mystery why it can't just be done) even the MMS app did not work.

Either way I'm all for a business making money.
