I organize my playlist according to year, but also include the album, but why are some songs listed in a different year? I just realized this and had previously thought they never downloaded right. Is it a fluke, or did it actually happen when the album was put together and I just have to adjust the year so all the tracks are listed under the same album?

It may depend upon where you are sourcing the music, or even with music coming from the same source there may be inconsistent dates associated with albums and tracks within an album. In most cases the date should be the release date of the album, and if there are multiple versions of the album that have been released then there will be different dates.

If you can provide an example of an album and songs within the album showing what you're describing, it will probably be easier to explain.

In my own music collection within the Apple Music app, I prefer to identify albums and songs with the date they were recorded. I'll generally over-write the date that is automatically applied to each song, with that date, because I don't want an album and the songs within it to be shown as 2020, for example, if it is an album that was originally released (and recorded) a couple of decades ago.

Well, I put the latest year to the songs that were listed a year before the actual release, but if I happen to have the same problem, I'll let you know.
