As I sit here cleaning up my HD, I have to ponder.... Why does iTunes still sell standard Def movies, (I am specifically referring to new releases not older stuff). Or maybe the more important question is why are the movie studios still manufacturing Std Def Digital copy movies? You normally play these back through your Apple gear, (PC, ATV, or other iOS device) which are hooked up to a digital TV. Are not all digital TV's at least 720P?

Seems like the default for digital copy should be HD?

I totally understand the DVD media still being Standard Def, but not digital copy.

As they say inquiring minds want to know. :)

I dont download many movies

but being on capped and very slow BB speed, I cannot practically download HD movies

it would take forever and the isp would not be happy

When the whole world has super fast broadband without caps, then you could be right, we dont need SD movies, until that happens SD is good enough for me

Oh yes good point, I forgot about download speeds. I have had fast BroadBand for so long it feels normal. :)

Size, bandwidth, convenience.

But just for now.

Because Apple feels that it's unnecessary to put modern disc drives into their computers. Instead, they choose the $20 disc drives from 2003.

(It really has to do with copyright issues, blu ray and itunes)
