There used to be a time where MacRumors was full of leaks, images, specifications, etc. of upcoming Apple hardware.

But nowadays no leaks or specs for the upcoming MBPs, Mac Pros, Mac Minis, etc. are posted on MacRumors.

Has Apple extremely tightened up their secretive process of building stuff?

MacRumors has become more of a news sites. iOS 9.3 Beta 2 released, this released, that released, this promotion, etc.

Can we have some REAL RUMORS PLEASE?

Thanks!

Rumours are around regularly but they hardly crop up every day and they rarely get it right.

Just make some nonsense up and convince yourself that will happen it'll have the same effect as reading it here....

Must admit I'm desperate for even the slightest morsel of gossip pertaining to refreshed/redesigned Macbooks.

Mainly because I'm currently without a computer of my own.
The missus is beyond fed up with me borrowing her Mac :p

Mayhaps.

But even then, Mac hardware rumors are usually scarse. That's what made them so fun. iOS + iPhone rumors are boring, because we get to know every single detail months in advance.

Its been a long time since we saw rumors on any up and coming Mac. Unlike the iPhone, there just doesn't seem to be leaks. I guess in a sense Cook did double down on secrecy - at leas with the Mac.

On a related note, there's really not that much to leak any more either. What will apple do, make a thinner MBP, with their new keyboard and USB-C? Said to say, but the incredible innovation with computers that we saw in the prior years has passed on as the life cycle of computers as moved on to a state of maturity.

Agreed. Most technologies are minor iterations, and the major stuff is usually announced to big PR fanfares in good time. There are no real surprises anymore unfortunately.

The only things I could think of that would cause some stir up, is a biometric hardware somethingsomething on the portabel machines, and cellular. Other than that, its just a matter of more battery time, more CPU/GPU power, more mm's shaved off, slightly better screen, new OS, etc.

Like when? Rumours about Mac hardware were always very sparse and usually appeared just before the actual refresh.

Maybe in a couple of weeks we see something like "One anonymous user has found code on the 10.11.4 beta relating to new line of Mac"...and everyone will be happy with the rumors...

Back in the day, there always rumors about the G3, G4, Apple going to Intel. Plus back then, we'd hear more information about OS X through the rumor mill and since OS X was so new, changes to the OS was more dramatic then today.

They just have not enough balls yet to admit stopping completely the MBP line… :D ;)
too much connectivity, not enough "Thinness" ----> iPad Pro and Mac 12" will replace them like the Trash-bin-Octopus replaced already the classic MacPro.
