Why are these video cables different? (2G Touch and 3G Nano)

I was thinking of getting this to solve a problem i have - a "kill 2 birds with one stone" problem since my cable from my Video iPod doesn't work on the Touch or Nano's we have.

BUT, Boxwave sells 2 different models? Is this just marketing/packaging or is there something i am missing?

I'm beyond irked at apple and my cables/accessories that don't work.... and the kids get tired of taking the dock in the car. Dorks are them! LOL!!

ANYWAY, can anyone tell me why i couldn't use the same one? And gee, do they work? (Apples version works on everything)

I would just buy the apple one to be safe, and it also comes with a wall charger so it is better as well.

I don't have the $50 for the Apple one right now, and i have 2 wall chargers already, and really, all i need is something that will work to charge in the car cheaply. I was hoping to be able to use this with my Box Wave car adapter - but i'm starting to think i still need the $8 pigtail they sell.

I sent them a request for info on it - they said it could take up to 48 hours to hear back.

I'll probably just find some cheaper car charging solution and be done with it, except being able to watch videos on the car system would be nice (we spend A LOT of time in the car traveling to doctor appointments).

You just need the usb cable that came with the ipod and a suitable USB car charger. As i don't live in america i can't suggest any. You should only need one of the cables from boxwave as they are the same and a cheap car usb charger.

I have tried my cable from apple with both a belkin car charger (many years old, from my Sony Clie), and my boxwave one - and neither work to charge the Touch.

I was honestly SHOCKED when it didn't charge with the Apple Cable.... but it didn't, and i tried 2.

Yes, apple has included a feature in the ipod touch 2nd gen that only allows aprooved chargers with a special chip to work to charge the ipod. I guess this pigtail has the chip in it which tricks the ipod into thinking it is a proper charger. So if you get this it will work.
