It's 2023, 1TB of the highest quality storage in the world is $50 for an individual to buy. Why is apple charing $500 to go from 128gb to 1TB? They buy 1TB of storage from someone else for probably $25 and charge $500 for it. How is this allowed?

„How is this allowed?“ that’s the economics. It’s called capitalism. You are not forced to buy it, thus there is no need to not allow it.
I will pay it. Between my music and images I would fill a 512gb model so I always go to the 1 TB iPhone.
They would pay if it was 1,500$. Apple magic. That's why I stopped years ago being a fanboy and started to live my own life.
