Why can't Apple add this to the OS? (Stop text message from being sent)

entirely necessary for a phone. I hate that it's not there, I text half messages and messages with typos all the time.
Yeah, I used to hate it too. Sent out so many text's with mistakes and spelling errors. Luckily jailbreaking pulled through and now it's not a problem anymore for me but its simple things like that all people should have without having to "hack" their devices.
What's the point of trolling minor feature request threads? This feature is in most "dumb" phones.

Not me! I always catch the typos while they are being sent!
I guess his point is similar to the OP's as the OP's point reads as though he is asking why, then he hits people with "hey it's here for people who jailbreak". If you ask me, the post is written in a similar trolling manner. The title should or could have read "Stop text messages from being sent available no on Cydia" or wherever it's available.

You know how to send a feature request to Apple. Everyone does. trolling about it here accomplishes nothing.

The question, like all other "this feature isn't in iPhoneOS" thread is not why they can't but why they choose not to. Of course they could add this, but they decided not to. Nobody here knows why: my own guess would be that it's probably for simplicity's sake, since Apple is obsessed with streamlining the UI. Whatever the reason, posting here about it is ridiculous. Go put in your feature request on the Apple website.

Which is just more evidence that they don't want to add the feature. Sorry, but this kind of paternalistic UI restriction is part of using an Apple product. That's why we have jailbreaking.

did anybody else notice that after the SMS was "sent" (the bubble popped up), there was still a "sending" scroll log on the top of the screen. THAT'S when it is really being sent. the guy even says that he has it on a 1 second delay but u can change it to 2 or 3. that is all it does is DELAY the text from being sent for a couple seconds while you proofread it. once it actually starts being sent you cannot stop it.
It doesn't really solve anything, it's just kind of a loop around. It's no different then just pausing 2 seconds for each text to proofread before we send them. yes i understand that many ppl are so prone to hit the send button immediately before they even think to look at the message. so this definitely can help in that case.
But apple's not going to use a cheap trick like that to make ppl believe they can actually stop text messages....

The jailbreaking method utilizes a "cheap trick" if Apple were to hardcode it to the OS it would work the same way as other phones.

Who exactly are you replying to? I don't think anyone here has said that the jailbreak fix is identical to whatever Apple might implement, only that it's all you're likely to get.
As an aside, "But thanks for playing" has got to be the most infuriating phrase used on a message board. I think that phrase should be a bannable offense.

About what Apple can implement, it would probably have to be something similar because they I don't see another way of them doing it. Obviously they can't just "take" the text message back from AT&T or tell the cell tower to stop receiving/sending that data.
I'll have to agree with you. I also don't think your response is trolling. With that being said, and this could be trolling, I use a BB Bold with a "real" keyboard so I type by touch and READ what I'm typing rather than looking down at my fingers.... so this doesn't happen with me.
When a phone sends a text message it basically makes a call to the network, just like a phone call. A phone call does not start immediately, the device must first connect (and make an initial call) to the network. Basically all phones that can cancel text messages stop the connecting call to the network. This jailbroken work around delays the initial call, and then lets it continue the way it was hardcoded to the phone by Apple. If Apple were to implement a cancel button it would likely be put in the same way as ALL other phones that have this feature. There's really no reason why they would add it the same way as the jailbroken work around.
