Why does Apple have to be so touchy-feely?

Everything from their commercials to the environment. I want to see a commercial that isn't tongue and cheek when it comes to Microsoft products. I want to see a press release that tells people like Greenpeace where to go.

I want to see hard-hitting stuff.

i guess its because they're trying to get windows users to move OS and dont want em to get all defensive when you suggest there may be something different

i still think they're going about it the wrong way i think they should advertise the fact that you can run windows on a mac, and then if their OS is as good as they believe you will realise this and stop using windows

I cannot agree with your more. Apple's current advertising campaigns are wildly successful even an economy that is cratering all around it. iPods are doing great. Apple sells a buttload of iPhones--enough to raise the bottomline of both itself and its partner AT&T. The Macintosh is gaining marketshare over its Wintel competition. This must change!

Isn't 'the arrogant ******' Microsoft's way though?

I haven't seen any hard hitting TV or print ads from Microsoft? Do you have any links?

The Mojave TV ads are tame and the last Zune ad I saw wasn't that aggressive. Some of the Xbox ads are ok but thats just showing off game play.

Apple hasn't had a real hardcore commercial since the 1984/Lemmings days.

It's not really part of their brand identity. They're the colorful, bubbly, aqua, multi-color kid next door. It would really clash with their corporate image to start airing negative advertisements.

Maybe "I want" doesn't get. Nor "we want". Maybe "they want" does, in big enough figures, though "they will want" is probably more a metric.

Describe what you mean by hard-hitting a bit more? Apple doesn't need to be unnecessarily bullish, presumably? FOr hard-hitting, see Tim Cook's IP quote.

Anyhow, what's wrong with touchy-feely?

Such sound reasoning.. I see the light also :D

I think Apple is one of the true power brands - at least, in this generation They aren't stoopid with their marketing. It's really a success story, both for Steve and the company itself, how well it's worked out (albeit I admit driven by the iPod)

This reminds me of that video on youtube where Steve Jobs was talking about itunes for windows. "Its like giving a glass of water to somone in hell." Bill Gates was sitting right next to him. That's pretty brutal.;)

Anyway, it does seem that Apple's current advertising campaign is doing well, but I always like to hear some classic Windows bashing! Yeah!:D

What's wrong with Greenpeace?

Off topic, hi jacked by political orginizations, even the co founder's opinion of the group in it's current state

On topic,
Apple can be more brutal, but they need these guys doing the ads for them to make Apple metal!

Didn't they already do that for years on end now with the "switch" adverts and then microsoft came out with their own tongue in cheek response last year?

All without mentioning the V word

Do you honestly like that cartoon? I've tried watching it, and just can't make it through it. The only shows I think are worse are SuperJail and Xavier:Renegade Angel

You think Apple is "touchy feely" lol. I would hate to be on the other end of Steve Jobs. I'm sure he is a complete jerk to get things the way he wants. Apple isn't a little goody goody company.

It would really clash with their corporate image.
Haha.

Any company as large and as influential as apple is will sell it's soul to the devil to achieve its ends. The corporate world is a dog eat dog kind of place. The "touch'e, feely image" is pure marketing. But rest assured behind the gloss is a very powerful, very calculating very clever team of accountants, engineers and business men, looking for the next acquisition, the next target and the next big thing.

The spin doctors keep the public on side, while the real game and militant action takes place behind closed doors. Just like any other multi national.

Cheers
J

P,S: Apple got a concrete shower in the mid 80's and has been playing hard ball ever since.

But then almost all other companies do that... and in reality you actually follow Apple because of these nuances..... so why change these...

17.920 ^^ dont forget that the devil himself runs Apple (though he's on a sick leave at the moment)...
