Hi guys :) One of the first things I noticed when I got my iPhone was that I couldn't simply & easily bluetooth media (photos, videos, music) to my Mac and my friend's cellphones/iPod Touches. Getting photos onto my Mac from my old Samsung phone used to be real easy and quick, but now it's just a drag to have to plug it in and import from iPhoto... Too bad since the iPhone 4S's camera is amazing. It would sacrifice nothing for files to be able to be sent to and from iOS5 devices. Its not like an optical drive or something big and physical that hinders a device. Its a software feature that'd make iDevices so much better.

I just don't get why Apple decided not to implement this handy feature into iOS. It allows the exchange of media between devices of all platforms easily with no setup.

Is there any reason?

Thanks you :)

You can jailbreak your 4S and use gremlin to send stuff over bluetooth

Is it cross platform? Can I send photos to Windows computers, android phones and feature phones? The thing I love about bluetooth is the universality and the versatility :)

Well it does actually work on a Windows computer. Just download the iCloud control panel and then turn it on in there.

You know about wifi sync, right?

As said, bluetooth is slow, insecure and ist just another battery drain. If you're using icloud, you don't even need to do that, it automatically syncs when you hit a wifi AP.

If you want a photo backup software, just get dropbox
For contacts, use idrive lite

I think you misunderstand... I'm not looking for an alternative to bluetooth, as I know of the alternatives and am currently using them (well, I have to I guess). The point is that all of these alternatives require some sort of setup, and none of them are as universal as bluetooth. I'm guessing the reason that Apple left this feature out is to both combat piracy (they are in the music business, after all) and push iCloud and/or their other wireless methods of transferring data.
