Ok I have been killing myself waiting to buy a MBP. I want a Mac sooo bad but right now all I have is my old PC. I will be waiting quite a while becuase I am about to start my senior year and realize that I should wait as close to college as I can to get it. So anyways I had a good idea. Get a cheap Mac desktop to hold me over while I;m waiting. Any ideas on what I can get for really cheap? It doesn't have to bae the greatest computer in the world, but not a slow one either.

Ok what about a G4? they are cheaper.
and slower (if you're talking about a powermac G4). if i were you i wouldn't waste my money on it. what i'd do is buy a core solo mini to tide ya over - cheaper, and heck, if you ever wanted to upgrade it down the line, you can buy a new processor for it.

Ok i found a intel mac mini solo. 1.5 Ghz, 512 MB, 60 GB, OSX Tiger new sealed in box for 575. Good deal?

EDIT: found another one a little cheaper but it has an Intel 1.5GHz G4 processor... is G4 same thing?

No such thing as an Intel G4 processor. G4's are PowerPC processors, IBM. The Mac minis are Core Solo and Duo.

well my dad doesn't understand computers like I do so it was a no go. :( He can't understand why I would want to buy a computer (intel core mac mini) for $550, which is an awesome deal, when i already have a computer (crappy PC). Oh well. I am gonna keep on looking and trying to talk him in to it.

Thats my plan for the macbook :D

How about a g4 laptop to hold you over. You may be able to justify a laptop do your dad since you already have a desktop.
