Hi,

My mum just got an iPad 2 and I went to the App Store and to the Purchased tab, and downloaded several previously purchased items, but none of them show up on the home screen. They still show as "installing" though, in the Purchased tab.

I had a similarly experience with my iPad 3 roughly a week ago. I restarted the device and then they all showed up, except none of them were installing. I had to tap on one to pause it and then tap again to resume to get it working, and even then many didn't. It took quite a while to get them all installed.

Any idea why??? Installing an app the normal way works fine.

They will show up when they finally finish installing - they are actually being downloaded.

You just won't get the icon with "downloading" or "installing" for some reason. A bug, I'm guessing.

Happened to me after restoring my iPad.

Yes. If you are using the wifi for other things, the downloading process will stay at the "waiting" level with a blank, greyed out icon place holder. Also, major apps take a while to download (ie: the 1GB app), so be patient.
