I have two set of contacts, but why? i think a little cloud icon that would let you know when all are sync would be enough. some apps show duplicate contacts.

Why do i have contacts 'on my phone" and on "iCloud"

when you upgrade to iOS 5, iTunes might have noticed that you might get duplicated contacts when you sync your device with iTunes contacts. Now just turn off iCloud on your device and delete all contacts in your devices. After that turn on iCloud again to let it push contacts from cloud to your device again.
