This is so frustrating. Both Airpods in case and case plugged in overnight. I go to use the Peloton every morning to discover that the right one is completely dead. I should not even need to plug in the case every night but I do so because of this issue. I just got a complete replacement of everything under AC+ and it's doing the same thing. I have noticed that at times, the Airpods are still connected to my phone/watch even though they are in the case with the lid closed. I suspect this issue is causing the drain. I triple check the seating of them every night and wait for the "blink" of each to confirm it is charging.

I am using memory foam tips and they seem to not get in the way of charging, but this also happened (less frequent) when I used to use the Apple white tips.

Any ideas?

I was going to ask about what tips you’re using... but I see. That’s still the only variable, other than to make sure your case is clean (q-tip the connectors by where the stems rest). That, and ensure nothing is blocking the sensors on the actual Airpods themselves, since you said they still register as “in use” even while they’re in their case. A full reboot of the Airpods probably wouldn’t hurt, either, if you haven’t done that.

I had the exact same issue, but my 3rd party tips were actually the cause, keeping them from being seated properly in the case. Switch back to your stock tips and see if that eliminates the issue. If so, you have your answer.

Thank you. I have tried the q-tip cleaning method multiple times with some alcohol on the tip. You are probably right about the tips, I just hate to go back, the sound, seal and comfort of these memory gel tips is outstanding.

I know the feeling... I kinda take mine and pinch/roll them a bit to minimize the profile, then close the case. Seems to work. I hate the Apple ones, although I know the case was designed with those specifically in mind. Too slippery for my ears.

I will try and pinch/roll them. Nothing sucks more than sticking your Airpods in your ear at 4AM for a workout to find one dead over and over. I honestly can not workout without music.
