Originally bought one that had a cutout because that’s all I could find on Amazon. Didn’t like how it was exposed and you could see the edges of the screen protector getting illuminated by the oled screen. Found a full coverage one this past week with a cutout for the speaker only and it works perfectly. No inference with Face ID at all and it looks a ton better.

Covering up sensors in general is a bad idea. It may seem to work perfectly for now but it will interfere at least somewhat.

If it’s working perfectly fine now I don’t see how it would interfere in the long run? Comparing Face ID to when I didn’t have it covered it’s just as fast. No lag at all.

You will disrupt the sensors and FaceID will fail more often if you cover the notch. There is a reason why even ambient light and proximity sensors are not covered in previous iPhones

I used a decent one that covered up the camera, thought it worked fine. It broke, i removed it and used a notched one and was amazed at how much quicker and more accurate the face id was. Still not perfect but a lot better!

I was thinking the same thing after just purchasing an X and Zagg screen protector. I don't like how the notch is cut out. I'm really thinking that I might just forgo a screen protector on this phone. I'll keep it on a few days to see if it grows on me.

I have a screen protector with the cutout for the notch and I use a wallpaper to “embrace” the edges of the tempered glass screen protector. :p

So dust does not collect in the lens of the camera and truth depth/facial recognition system.

Some screen protectors would interfere with the dot projector which is used to verify your face. That’s why there is a cutout for the notch

I had actually forgotten about this on mine too. Drove me mad and this is probably why the performance got worse for me and face id.

I have tried many screen protectors in the last 30 days, finally I got one that fits and it covers the whole screen and the sensors are working as intended.

No problem here with that.

There are ones that have holes where the sensors are. I hate those. Cleaning dust and oil from the holes is an impossible job.
