I thought with Messages in the cloud, messages were meant to be kept synced between phone/Mac? It doesn't seem to happen for me, some of them sync over, some don't.

There doesn't seem to be a pattern - some do, some don't. I mostly use Messages for things like verification texts for when you sign into online services etc, some of them show on my Mac, some only show on my iPhone.

What gives...?

Usually the issue occurs with SMS text so you’ll need to enable forwarding to your MB in your phone’s message settings.

Other than that sometimes sync is just crap between devices (e.g. Apple Mail).

Yep, not much else to say. Even when everything is configured properly issues often remain. Perhaps unsurprisingly I’ve found iCloud syncing to work much better between iPhone and iPad than when a Mac is involved.

I'm having the same issue with sms. I can't send to people on android with my MacBook Pro since I updated my phone to iOS 16. Text message forwarding is gone from my options in messages. iMessages sync between the two but not sms, any ideas?
