Verizon Wireless Router using WIFI
27” iMac [19,1] / macOS 13.2.1
11” iPad Pro / iOS 16.3.1
iPhone13 Pro Max / iOS 16.3.1
55” Hisense (Roku)TV, using WIFI

The iMac, iPad, iPhone use my WIFI network connection to the Verizon Wireless Router.

1. Inconsistent speed reporting from Ookla Speedtest:
iPhone/160 mbps & 12.0 mbps
ipad/180 mbps & 16.6 mbps
iMac/53 mbps & 12.7 mbps

2. I don’t understand why the iMac reports so low speed at 53mbps. Anyone have a clue why? Did I prevent full speed w a setting?

3. There is no TV audio syncing problem streaming the ipad or iphone, only streaming the TV. Why? Its so damn weird. All channels except these two lose syncing.

4. HULU says its Verizon not giving me enough speed. Verizon says it the two channels. The two channels start out synced, then gradually lose syncing audio w the video, watching streamed TV.

Testing speed for the 3 devices at the same physical location?

All 3 devices are connected at 5 Ghz?

All 3 devices are connected using WiFi 5 or WiFi6?
All 3 devices are within 5ft of the router same room. The imac is 1ft from the router.

Audit13 sorry for my reply above. Was interrupted. I have since learned to use two separate networks. 1 for 5Ghz, 1 for 2.4ghz. The problem was earlier that the router had 2 networks: 2.4ghz+5ghz, and 2.4ghz. So the imac saw the top listed 2.4. So i corrected that. The imac is now downloading at 100mbps.

Ok, to the original question. Using the 2.4ghz network, the TV sees it and I sign in, but TruTV and ID continue to lose syncing audio. Apparently the TV will only recognize 2.4ghz. So I cannot test the TV on the 5ghz network. I sure would like to know if using the 5ghz network would help. Do TV’s come 5ghz ready?

Many modern routers and router/modem combinations can use the same SSID for the 2.5 and 5.0 frequency with band steering directing 5.0 capable devices to connect at 5.0.

Yes, many TVs do support 5.0 but it depends on the age of the TV as well.

Are you able to hardwire the TV to the router, even temporarily to see if the sync issue goes away?

Settings/Audio/Digital Audio Output/Auto, Passthrough, Stereo, Custom [changed from Auto to Stereo]
Settings/Audio/Audio output/Auto, eARC (HDMI 1), TV speakers, Optical [selected TV speakers]

Would you believe after all the struggling to set the router correctly and research on the web for audio syncing issues, changing Digital Audio Output to Stereo, not Auto , AND, Audio Output to TV Speakers, not Auto, worked to sync the audio for the two channels. There must be software error in the Auto setting. Thanks for offering help, Audit13.

Well, well, its started unsyncing again. TruTV, ID, National Geographic, all audio is un-synced.
Well hat tells me you cheap router is dying a slow death! So take a long extent cable to the Apple TV and see if you still see the audio sync problem! If it does that means it's the Apple TV if it wifi is good or if your network is dying slowly!

Called Verizon again: I wound up going deep into Hisense TV preferences: Settings/System/Advanced System Settings/Factory Reset/Reset TV audio/picture settings/ then choosing F8 and clicking 3 times. I believe this has corrected syncing.

Using Verizon Wireless Internet: If my iPhone13 Pro Max / iOS 16.4 gets 189 mbps in my home WIFI network & my 11" iPad Pro / iOS 16.4 gets 131 mbps in the same WIFI net, why the heck does my 19,1 iMac w Ventura 13.3 get ONLY 51 mbps??????? Have I turned on something or turned off anything to give me this slow downloading on the iMac alone? They are all 3 devices signed into the Primary 5G home wifi network. I have a separate 2.4G guest net.

Go into wireless router and give the 5Ghz a slightly different name and then make sure the Mac is using the 5Ghz frequency or on your Mac just hold down the 'option' key then mouse click the finder menu Wi-Fi icon to see if is connected to the correct frequency!

Still getting out of sync LIVE programing w HULU: ID, TruTV, National Geographic, TBS, Comedy Central, POP, etc. There is NO out of sync w NBC CBS ABC CNN Netscape, AppleTV.

Have reset Verizon Wireless Router to manufacturers settings, then added my setting. Reset the Hisense Roku TV to manufacturers setting. Set router Primary network to DUAL 2.4 and 5 ghz. Different names networks. Used only numbers and letters for any password.
