Why do wireless networks I've used get replicated on my iMac?

As the title says. I have an iMac, and a MacBook Air. Obviously I don't need the wireless networks from the MBA on the iMac, but if I join one it shows up on the iMac.

Why this matters is that I need my home network on the MacBook Air...but I have to turn wireless off for the iMac or it connects automatically even though it has a wired connection. Forgetting the network doesn't work as it repopulates. I want wireless on for certain things (inSSIDer as an example).

Any help here? Also, if the wired and wireless connections ARE both active, and the LAN connection is above the wireless in the connection list, is it only using the LAN anyway?

Do you have iCloud keychain turned on?

that will allow all your iCloud devices to access networks that one of them has joined

I do but would like to exclude the iMac from wireless connections, is that possible?

Yes, well it uses the LAN connection first, not sure if you max out the LAN, it may then try via the WiFi...

If you go under System Preferences->Network, at the bottom on the left side panel there is a gear icon. Click on it and select "Set Service Order...". This will bring up a list of network devices. Drag the ethernet device to the very top of the list. This will ensure that the ethernet will always be used first regardless of what WiFi network you are connected to.

If you want to verify which network device is active, the items listed in the left panel are in the order being used where the top item is the one being used.

As far as stopping WiFi networks from repopulating, I can't help you there.

I don't think you can be selective about what iCloud keychain saves or doesn't save, its all or nothing as far as I'm aware.

But OS X should use the ethernet connection over the WiFi if its higher in the service order and connected first
