I need to stop checking MacRumors so often.... Reading all these rumors about the new MBAs with SB procs, thunderbolt ports and backlit keyboards makes me feel like my 5-month old MBA will be outdated very soon, which doesn't make me happy. Its too bad I'm now obsessed with needing to have the latest tech, whereas I could've been in ignorant bliss using my MBA til the next time I actually need to upgrade.

... here we go again ...

There is no news for SB for the MacBook Air ... you need to read a little more.

Intel has introduced a chip that 'could' be used for the MacBook Air - that's it.
Anything else is speculation and gossip.

I think a Spring/Summer 2012 update is more likely. Others disagree. Either way it's all speculation.

Just enjoy your notebook.

I know theres no news, but there are a ton of rumors (go figure, on a rumor site). So I actually need to read less. :p

The only rumor at the moment is the June rumor posted by CNET months ago. Even that is fairly unreliable because it was posted so long time ago. It has 8.3% possibility of being right, just like any other month.

The MR article posted couple of days ago is trash, complete trash. The only point in the article is that the possible chips for MBA will be released soon but it doesn't even tell when. Everything else besides that is speculation, and very poor one.

My friend, please enjoy the beautiful MBA you have, it is a gorgeous, capable Apple computer, sooner or later there will be something newer, better.
I have stood rock solid, against all this BS, and happily have lived with and upgraded my 2007 BMB, to 6GB RAM and an SSD. Save up and throw in a OWC 360 GB SSD in your MBA, you will have a speedier (by23%) SSD.
My mantra, upgrade, and relax and enjoy, life is far to short to fret over the latest and greatest, and what you have, blows me out of the water.
Relax and enjoy the beautiful baby you have!

There's always something newer and better. Whatever you buy will be 'outdated' in a few months. But in most cases it's unlikely to make a noticeable difference other than in your mind, so get over it.

I upgraded to my 13" MBA ('ultimate') this year from a 15" PowerBook (FW800 edition), a lag of about 8 years. Admittedly, the PB is way past its prime, but we're still using it!

The goal of corporations is not to make you happy. It is to create a sense of inadequacy and then to promise to fill it through purchase of their products.

Suffering often arises out of a perceived need to have the latest and greatest. If you can gorget about that need, life gets a lot simpler.

Gadgets are fun. When they offer enough new features, they may even be worth purchasing. But don't let the things you own end up owning you! Go for a walk, talk to a friend, do some charity work, read a book. Those are the things that are more likely to result in a meaningful and happy life.

Just sell it if a new one comes out. They hold their value great. So maybe it cost you a few hundred bucks to have it for the period in between. Cost of enjoying expensive things.

You and Cheffy Dave are the only two that consistently make sense about what the MBA is, when it's likely to be updated, and how to fairly consider the situation.
