Why does Apple charge the CC if its not shipping until Feb?

Just ordered the basic 6 core model and upgraded the ssd to 512. Says I can pick it up in feb at the apple store but its charged my card already. I thought Apple doesn't charge the card until it ships?

My bank listed it as pending until the machine was shipped for the last few macs I purchased.

They don't charge you until it ships. They only put a block on the amount.

Your right.. I forgot it usually drops off until it ships.

No trace of any block or reservation on my card...

Apple placed a $1 place holder on my card after I placed the order. I didn't see any pending charge until my Mac was shipped.
