I just bought an iPod touch 4th generation and syncing is taking forever. I mean I create a playlist and everytime I put a song there itunes takes around 10 seconds to finish putting that song in the playlist. I had an ipod nano before and copying songs to a playlist is hassle free. What's the problem? Is it iOS 5 or iTunes 10.5? Thanks for the answers :)

Neither. It's probably your computer. Free up some memory, disable some background services, quit surfing pr0n while trying to sync, et cetera.

If that doesn't help, you could try clearing up apps from the Multitasking bar on your iPod touch and then performing a soft reset of the device.

This is a new laptop and has barely anything on it yet. It couldn't be my computer. I think it's itunes. My laptop is running smoothly except for itunes. I made the playlist manually on my touch and it was fast. Not as fast as when I used my nano before but it was a lot faster than in itunes. I think I'll use the older version of itunes and try to see what the problem may be

EDIT: iOS 5 requires iTunes 10.5 :(

Have you updated to iTunes 10.5.2? That may help with the performance issues you are having, as 10.5 and 10.5.1 both had some pretty large performance issues, especially after the release of iTunes Match.

It's DEFINITELY iOS 5. :(

I synced my old iPod nano and putting songs in a playlist works like a charm. I hope we get updates very soon since I constantly create playlists.
