I have an imac g5 2.0 ghz 20 inch.. and whenever i burn somethign it takes an extremely long time.. i use the built in burning.. the longest part is the verifying stage... On my windows machines.. ones with slower burners.. it does not take as long..

I would fork out the extra dollars for Toast Titanium 7 ($65 USD), this is just as easy to burn, and also provides Popcorn built in so you can also easily burn DVD's as well. It doesn't do the verification after the burn either so it will seem much faster.

Being that you neglected to mention what exactly you're burning, I'll assume it's DVDs.

DVD burn rate is highly dependent on your media. I have good experience with being able to burn TDK media very quickly. You can experiment with a few different brands to see what works the best.
