Is this just an instance of Apple bending over to the carriers?

It doesn't seem like there's any real difference between postpaid and prepaid wireless anymore other than carriers upcharging people to unlimited data. I don't come anywhere close to breaking 5GB/mo, much less the 8GB/mo that AT&T prepaid offers, so unlimited is just a waste of money for me.

I looking for a new data plan that is about 5-10GB a month that offers full HD(1080p) streaming! Anyone know of such a plan; prepaid or otherwise?

Crickets plans (except for the $55 unlimited) allows you to stream full HD if you disable streamsaver.

On topic, it’s super annoying that iUP requires postpaid and I can’t think of a logical reason besides Apple throwing the carriers a bone.

I'm on AT&T prepaid. So I was sad to find out I couldn't participate in the IUP (unless doing the hassle workaround). But I guess it's a good thing for me. One less monthly charge I have to worry about. Have enough of those already!

I've used both a T-Mobile pre-paid and post-paid account with IUP.

Currently have T-Mobile One Plus:

Unlimited 4G LTE smartphone data
Unlimited Talk & Text
HD Video Streaming
10GB of high-speed Hotspot data
Texting & data abroad
In-flight texting + data
Wi-Fi calling
Talk, text & data in Mexico & Canada

$70/month (includes taxes, fees, etc).

Other cool thing is that the new iPhone XS supports T-Mobile's new 600MHz spectrum which will support 5G in 30 cities by next year.
