I’m not sure if this is by design, or if something has been omitted, but from a company that touts itself about its privacy, practices and policies, why does the mail app automatically open another email after you delete or move an email that you were looking at? There are plenty of other apps that give you the option to return to that mail list or folder list, but I’m just wondering why Apple would make it the default workflow to automatically open another email?

If I am looking at a specific email, and I have a group of people around, if I move or delete that email, the mail app automatically selects the next email in line. It doesn’t matter if that email was already marked as read or if it was marked as unread, it’s now marked as read. That means in a lot of cases a read receipt is sent, it also means that if anyone else is in the area, they automatically see that other email that it’s selected. That’s a huge privacy issue to me, and I’m not sure why Apple would even think that that is acceptable.

Unless I’m missing something, I would love to know if other people are having this experience as well. I’ve opened feedback with Apple, FB10280669, but their feedback system has always seemed like a black hole where nothing returns.

I have the same problem. This is very annoying! I have already searched a lot of messages on the internet and I don't know where else to go with this question 😡

I've set the 'Unread' mail folder in the first slot at the top & then 'All Inboxes' below that, that way I can just Command+1 or 2 to either easily. Just a workaround, really.
