iPhone 14 Pro Max why does my 14 pro max constantly check for email

when all accounts are on manual and not push is enabled? been going on for years but seems to be worse now with ios 16
 
Lol - opposite problem with phone set to push for mail. I have to open the app to get email a lot of times. Also been a bug for years.
