So yesterday, my HomeKit app on my iPad Pro (11” 2018 on os 13.5) started showing a Bluetooth icon. Can’t figure out why. I don’t use any Bluetooth HomeKit devices. Reboot didn’t change anything. Nothing weird in my paired BT devices list (just AirPods and Pencil).

Anyone know exactly what this icon indicates?

Have you tried reinstalling the HomeKit app?
 
Apps on the right hand side of the iPad Dock are recently used and suggested apps. For instance my iPad Dock currently looks like this because it is suggesting Safari because it is open on my iMac as I type this.

I would imagine there is some device in your Bluetooth environment that supports HomeKit and the app is being suggested as a means to set up said device. This could even be from a neighbour.

I’d be surprised if it was a neighbor, as the houses are pretty far separated, but I guess still possible. Otherwise, I have no BT-based HomeKit devices. At this point, I’m thinking it was some kind of weird bug as it happened shortly after installing the 13.5 update.

Either way, I seemed to have cleared the icon by turning off BT in the system settings (not just Control Center), rebooting, then turning BT back on. A simple reboot didn’t do it.

I’ll post back if the icon returns.
 
To put it bluntly, trial and error.

But first you need to understand what the system is telling you before you can apply any troubleshooting. As you don’t know at that stage.
Besides that professionnel Troubleshooting begins at the quick fixes and least intrusive steps. Uninstalling something isn’t that.

Thankfully the OP did exactly that, toggled a setting and rebooted (note: no button reset nonsense) and done. Food for thought! :)

That could end up being useful to me at least.
I have an iphone 6 with battery life capacity at 81%. I have to frequently turn off the bluetooth as a bluetooth rocketfish reciever seems to me to be draining the phone battery if the phone is idle with bluetooth on.
