Hi,
After I finish working on my MacBook Air, I generally close the lid, and resume my session when I reopen the lid. After opening the lid, I would always hear the twangy sound of the wifi connecting. Something has changed on my laptop in the last several months though, and now when I close the lid, I hear the sound of the wifi connecting over, and over, and over, every 1-2 minutes (it could be at exact intervals, or could be random--I've never bothered to time it). But it is so annoying--especially if I set the laptop on my nightstand and go to bed and it starts twanging, and I have to get up to either turn the wifi off, or take the computer out of the room. I've tried (what I think is) every variation of power setting possible: Wake for wifi, Don't wake for wifi, Sleep whenever possible, Prevent computer from sleeping, No power naps, Turn display off never...nothing fixes this problem, and it never used to do this. It seems that something is waking it up every minute or so, but I can't figure out what it is.

No, not at all. In fact, I use Luma mesh networking consisting of 3 stations, in order to maintain consistent connectivity. Incidentally, I never lose wifi connection during use.
