As the title suggests, i am here to ask u guys this qn. i am living in singapore and the prices of the ipods(be it classic, nano or even touch) keeps dropping over the past few weeks, to be precise its twice already. the original price of 160gb ipod classic used to be 598(last yr and new) but now the refurbished one is actually 368! the ipod touch 16gb and 8 gb is 358 and 268 respectively. now the new 120gb is actually 398! (*All prices in singapore dollars) for the past few weeks before and after the september 9th event, i have been monitoring very closely at the price and to be honest, i am surprised. i used to be comtemplating whether to buy the ipod classic 80gb(refurbished and the price now is 248) but now i am thinking between the ipod touch 16gb and ipod classic 160gb. Should i wait? Any comments or suggestions?

They were dropped to try sell them off as there are now new iPod Classics, Nano's and Touch's.

What you get depends on your preference. Do you want...

Capacity / portability
Battery life / power
Styling / Functionality

I suggest an iPod Touch - the hardware only changed a bit but the FW is what counts.

I don't mind if they keep dropping.
ordering another 80G classic for $229AU shipped.
the new nanos are $199AU so it's kind of a no brainer really another 30 bills for 8 times the storage and i hate the new release nano.

What i actually meant is that will the price of the refurbished continue to drop this few weeks and should i wait or just buy it now? i am thinking between the 160gb classic and the 16gb ipod touch. hope this helps!

Maybe I quite don't understand the question you are asking here.

But are you wondering why the prices of second-hand ipods keep going down? If thats the case, then thats pretty damn funny.

I doubt very much that the price will continue to drop. That's not the way Apple works. They decide on a price for a product, and when that product is updated, the older version is reduced in price, often by quite a significant percentage. However, that's it; afterwards, it will not continue to drop unless there are specific additional conditions - a new store opening, etc.

Re Touch or Classic, that depends entirely on your own personal needs/wants/preferences. As auggie2k correctly points out, it's a trade off between various preferences. If you want a long battery life and extensive capacity go for the Classic; if your preferences are for style and functionality, then the Touch is the obvious choice.
Cheers

Well if the same thing happens when the new notebooks come out, I won't be complaining.
