It's really, really obvious and I have no explanation for it ... It should be the same catalogue to match, after all – or does Shazam somehow use an offline, very limited audioprint catalogue when switching to Auto-Shazam to save battery (not always having to check online)? That would really be the ONLY explanation for this I could (at least slightly) imagine.
The same songs that are easily recognised by Shazam in normal mode are not recognised in auto mode. The difference is not mild, but so night and day that it should be easily reproducible for everybody when playing a few songs in a row.
