the iPad at $329 gives you a 20w charging brick

the iPad Air at $599 gives you an 18w charging brick

why is that?

Huh? Wasn’t it the Air 4 that’s getting the 20W brick?

I’d be surprised if the iPad 8th gen shipped with USB-C. I expect it to have just the regular 10-12W USB-A charger.

The $329 iPad gets 20W USB-C charger, and now comes with lightning to USB-C cable.

I guess Apple is preparing people for the charger-less $1000 iPhone by equipping their cheaper products with USB-C chargers... :D

it's not, the Air is coming with 18w charger not 20w

the entry level iPad is coming with 20w

Have you looked at the Air’s specs sheet? It is linked to my post. Here is the screenshot, just in case.

Australia
In the Apple Store app, the Australian models are both listed as having a 20W charger in the box. It could depend on country as I believe I had a 10W charger for one of my previous iPads when US models had a 12W charger.
