I can't figure out how to prevent this from happening. Anyone have a solution or suggestion to stop this from happening, its annoying.

Shuffle has been turned off ever since I started developing my playlist for the following day. As for trying to explain things better, there is no easier way to say it.

Though, I could give an example. Let's say I was playing song 13 on my playlist and all of the sudden it jumps down to song number 2,725. (The last song on my playlist.) Things will be fine for the first few songs, then my playlist jumps to the bottom of the list while a song is playing.

All right, sorry for assuming things. Does the jump occur while playing the song, or after the song? I mean it finishes no. 13 and it jumps to something else?

I should have mentioned the song is in the middle of playing then it jumps to the bottom, but it still continues on playing the songs on my up next list and it doesn't go to the next song once it jumps to the bottom.

Okay…thanks for the explanation. I think the issue is the size of the playlist, but I haven’t had this as an issue for years now. It used to be a regular problem where large playlists wouldn’t really play properly.

As far as skipping during the middle of a song, I’m not sure.

I would try the usual things; hard reset, uninstall/reinstall the app…..

It doesn't skip during the song. Are you saying the song will play a little bit then go to the next song on the up next list. I didn't say that. You're saying that, right?

Sorry…I thought that was what you said in the post just above mine…it is in the middle of the song and then it skips to the bottom. That’s what you said.

Are you saying just visually? You are still hearing the song…the “up next” song is correct on the screen…THEN it suddenly just starts playing a song from way down on the list? And it is NOT on shuffle?

Do you know how to take screen shots? That may help explain it better.

EDIT - I’m sorry…you actually say that in every post. It’s playing a song and suddenly skips to the last song.

But maybe what you mean to say is that it is playing song number 5 on your list…that song ends…and instead of going on to song number 6 in your queue, it goes to song 2,567 (the last song) instead and starts playing that? It skips thousands of songs and never plays them?

My only experience with something like this was as I mentioned above, I would have a playlist of thousands of songs but on shuffle…and the playlist would only shuffle the first 50 songs or so and never play the bottom part of the list. Your issue is similar, but different.

Sounds like you need to submit via the Apple Support page on their site and see what they (and others) might say.

I wish I could take a video and post it but I don't know when it will happen.

Is this on iOS/iPadOS, or on a Mac in the Music app? If it's the latter, I've had a bug report filed against that (and a couple of related bugs) since at least macOS 12.2.

Not sure I've ever seen this behavior on iOS, though I generally don't keep the Music app in the foreground while I'm listening to playlists.

I am using a MacBook Air. OS Monterrey 12.2.1.

It sounds like a bug especially as it jumps whilst playing a song but there's something you can check in any case.
Go to the music menu bar > View.
You should have a tick next to 'playlists' at the top and if you look down the menu you'll find 'Sort by' and you'll have options there. I think you'd want it set to 'Descending order'
Only thing to check I can think of.

hey guys, I have I think the same exact problem
Im on a MacBook Pro 16 inch max with Monterey,
when I'm in my song view(all song visible) I could be playing a song and in my song view, the view itself jumps down as if I clicked the scrollbar at the bottom of the page, so the "View" jumps randomly to top or bottom of the page, can't be sure each time.
but the song I'm playing doesn't stop
in fact, if I use the arrows to go next or previous, my view jumps right back to where the song is in the list but it is now deselected,
no idea what is going on, if it was a touch screen I would say this bug resembles phantom touch, as if my iTunes has a touch screen and a ghost is randomly touching the scroll bar and forcing it to jump to a seemingly random spot

guys, I managed to capture it on video, so it also happens during song playback but I was able to get it to happen on film by doing the following, just deselecting a song, and allowing it to play till the end by itself, when the song changed, the song view immediately scrolled to the bottom of the page and in the clip you'll see me show the scroll bar and when I use the arrow keys to change the song, the list goes back to its former location, this also happens when the song is selected, it was so random up till now.

Does your list keep doing jumping for no reason after the first time? On your video it looks like it does it continually. When its happens for me, it jumps to the last song on the playlist, but it continues playing all the songs in the up next list. However, I am not sure if it will go to the next song because I always put the scroll bar to the top of the window.
